Guinea pigs have a potential life span of 6-8 years if taken care of properly and no illness. Normally they live from 3-4 years.
Here is a site to help you. Also, its always good to buy a book at the pet store about them. I did and it helped a lot!! I think of all the caged animals guinea pigs are the neatest. Mine was named Juliette and we had a huge pink ball for her to run around the house in and she loved fresh spinach and peaches and apples. I would recommend putting carpet (you can get it at the pet store) in most of the cage and putting the "bedding" in a one section that doesnt have carpet under it. If cleaned out everyday, your guines pig will usually only go to the bathroom on the bedding. Check with your pet store, but when I got mine th epet store had already trained them to go on the bedding only which made for easier clean up and more sanitary enviroment.

About four years is the normal lifespan for a guinea pig. Some live longer than that, mine only lived for four years though.

males live longer then female unless you keep them, from not mating, for the female when having babies and to mant times makes her live span not as long..anyways if taking care of well and feed good they can live 4 to 10 years.and when they have babies the male can be put away or if the female don't won't him with her and the babies.and when the babies are born the are all ready walking around eyes open, and yes the stick to mom,and yes they feed off mom but they do have teeth and they will start to eat the food within a few days, they like fruits and veggies also.
but even though they're doing that, eaten on they're on,they still need to feed off mom for about 8 weeks or unless you see them not won't mom and mom may push them away as well.around six weeks old.need to be with mom to 8 weeks.bath them with baby shampoo,or something mild,if you don't want to spend all the money on the stuff they sell for them.make sure cage and bedding gets clean alot, helps with the smell.we did ours alot.
specaily when we gave them bathtime.but not to much on that can dry they're fur/skin easy.and they need that oil stuff thats in they're fur and skin can't remeber why but they need it.you can look for a cheap book at the stores and the can show you and tell you more, also look on line also.good-luck..
