well yes it is, wep is easier to crack, wap is not that easier nd wap 2 is the best bet. but the question is do u need that. yes if they have a good sniffer and they spoof ur mac and are in ur range then they can get ur raw packets of data ur sending out, they'll have to decrypt it and then try to figure out what u are talkin abt. dont wry noone can get into ur pc or somethin like that. the best they can do is capture the info ur sending out. and that my friend is not too easy. yes its advisable to use a better encryption

Wow, I can't believe how people post inaccurate information. First user was right. Yes, it is possible and can be done by using software made to crack WEP or WPA encryption. WEP is the most known to be cracked mainly cause it was the first one used on wireless netoworks.

I recommend you use WPA or WPA 2 if you can... Also you can use Mac filtering but seeing how Network Cards now allow you to change your MAC Address. One can easly spoof the right MAC address and gain access. (most cards are older and don't have this ability)

People say very easy, they're cheating you ( they say as if they were good hackers).

It is possible, but it is not easily to do. There are not many people care about your network. The rank of wireless signal is 50-100 meters, if they want to use your network, they have to bring their PC/laptop near your house. Even if they get accessed to your network, it will be harder to steal your files or spy what are you doing. As long as you have basic protection, you can feel safe.

Piece of cake for almost any modern computer...

But, just like in home and business security, we make it such a pain in the azz, PTA, that they go elsewhere.

So, make the password a combo of numbers, punctuation, and letters mixed Upper case and lower case, and even encrypt the connection!

WEP is notoriously easy to crack. With readily available software (http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/BackTrack ), anybody can get into WEP in a matter of minutes. WPA (shared pass-key) is much more secure, but it's always possible to bruteforce a passphrase, so make sure it's a good one.

yes
the programs for that is easily available off hackers
but if you use WPA security, it is harder.
there are also wireless security programs, but the best is just in-built security on the wireless router
