what sort of ariel would be best to pick up freeview . i think my present one is to old. and do you need to tune the ariel in. please help.

Aerials are terrific things. I suppose you are talking about TV antennas and network TV. Radio Shack used to sell TV antennas, but I suspect you could find them on the internet.
If you are talking about some other service, it might require a dish antenna, which is a really strong aerial.
If this service is something other and you can learn the frequency, then you can build your own aerial. The beauty of commercial TV antennas is that they cover a wide range of different frequencies. But for a single frequency, you can divide the frequency in Megahertz MHz into 468 and that will give you the length of the antenna in feet. Cut that length of wire into two pieces so that it can be connected in the middle and connect it to a piece of coax cable. One side to the shield and the other to the center conductor. That still leaves open the issue of how to connect it to your receiver, but if it is a TV, then that is called an F connector.

External aerials are the best to pick up freeview. Internal aerials work too, but not as effective.

you do need an ariel , a peice of advie put it in ur loft cos an out side one somtimes makes ur signal go bad cos of the wether

You dont to tune in aerial,just have a pretty decent one,nothing fancy needed.You only tune in telly.

you need to contact a company who fit's new ariels, we did it through yellow pages, cost 100.00 to put cable in to 2 rooms. good luck

Your aerial will need to be changed to received Digital frequencies.........everyone needs to change before 2008 I think.....
