I know that the American flag I follow is red, white and blue. But like it or not, the Confederate flag still exists. Hell, if you want, explain how you feel about that rebel flag.

I see nothing wrong with it.. it represents the South ... not slavery, not racism.. the South wanted to succeed from the United States and that is why they had the Civil War... the Confederate Flag represented the South in the Civil War-It's part of our history, and some people just like the way it looks.. it's not the Symbol of the US

I think that in most countries people don't even know about the Civil War here. The ones that do think it was a terrible time in the history of the United States. The only other country in the wold that would have an opinion about the Confederate flag is Great Brittan. They think it was a knock off of the Union Jack. When the colonies where also "Rebels" against the King of England

To be honest I dont think people outside the US really know or give thought to the Confederate flag.

As for my own feelings, it is a symbol of Southern heritage and pride. Like many symbols, it has been used by hateful people to rally others to their cause. This does not lessen the ideals for which the flag originally stood for. It's sad that the majority of Americans outside the South only see the Confederate flag as symbol of a minority's hateful agenda.

I don't "feel" it represents anything. Is it O.K. if I mention objective FACTS instead? The Constitution established a federation of independent States and an AGENCY government that worked FOR them, not over them. At the time in question the Confederacy was CONSPICUOUSLY more in line with The Constitution than was the Union. "The big bad North" INITIATED military force against Americans. The CSA defended against it. Had "the South" won, reunification would be the likely long-term outcome as Union States saw their lunches being eaten and used the CSA-affirmed right of secession to leave the union for the CSA. We have a codified definition for Treason. Secession is not treason. INVADING American States as Lincoln ordered is. There was no rebellion. No one was trying to overthrow their government. > Why did 4 "slave States" remain in the Union? > Why did a 5th State split-off and join the Union AS a "slave-state?" > Why did most seceding States only do so AFTER Lincoln's invasion? > Why wasn't "The Emancipation Proclamation" written until AFTER the War was under way? > Why did Lincoln offer IN WRITING perpetual "slave State" status to any "rebel" State that rejoined the Union? > Why did NONE of them take that offer? BTW, The CSA's Constitution was simply a copy of OURS except for a few needed bits of editing. I'm sure (ahem) you already knew THAT, too. I KNOW how several of you are about to respond so allow my brief "prebuttal:" Don't let the fact that I didn't FAIL history fool you. Except for training and a couple vacations, I've never even been IN "the South." My Unit's lineage is to a UNION regiment.

probably other countries don't know or don't care about the confederate flag. personally, i dont see why it's still around - let's face it South, you lost! i realize it's a symbol of culture and all that, but come on, there are so many other negative connotations towards it that it doesn't portray a symbol representative of culture to "outsiders" (northerners, westerners, etc).

For southern boys it's a rebel thing. We don't give a rat's but what people in this country think about it let a lone what other countries think. If you don't like it , don't look at it. It's a big world.
