If there is a history of abuse and drugs, then I don't see any judge in his right mind that would lift supervised visitation.

If the mother can prove that the father could be potentially harmful to the child, then the judge will continue the supervised visits. If the mother can just provide he said/she said type of stuff, then the judge may allow unsupervised visits, unless the mother can prove he is a flight-risk with the child.

If the mother grants it ...then a judge will see no problem with it. It is "supervised" . Drug and Alcohol and Domestic Violence are all things that can be corrected and healed over time,he has a problem, hopefully he's trying to correct them. If he wants a longer amount of time he will have to prove to the "judge" that he is working on his problems and being an active constructive member of society.

If the mother can prove that he is a danger to the child then the judge probably will not change it, but the judge may order longer visits because 15 minutes is a little short.
