They have no cerebral cortex, what we commonly associate with a higher conscience. A higher conscience is what a human has, the big grey matter of the brain. & most scientists (a Philosophers) agree that this is where the seat of a person is. The "I" as it where. The voice in your head that says "oh, I'm alive", so;
No, probably not. but it depends if the cerebral cortex is where the "I" of a thing is.

Worms don't "know" anything. Such primitive nervous systems do not have the capacity for accumulating knowledge in any real sense. Worms react to stimuli, that's about it. And even when they do that, they don't know they are doing it.

Feeding and reproduction shows they are alive. Trying to escape water and predators shows they know they are alive and are trying to stay that way. In my opinion, yes: any creature that will deliberately try to preserve its own life knows that it is alive.
