Do you get any financial help from the goverment for your PhD? If so, is this enough to cover your fees and maintenance costs? I'm only in my first year of my BSc degree, so I have no idea how PhD's work, but from my own experience, if you can survive on what you get from grants and governmen loans then dont stress too much about getting a job.

Yes, it would be nice to have some extra money, but part of being a student is being broke! Plus it's no good going out and getting a job for the sake of having some money, then not being able to work effectively and consequently not doing so well with your uni work. Concentrate on your uni work and think of how much money you'll be making once you're qualified! Good luck!

Well, it depends. Are you on schedule and getting good assessments of your work so far? If yes, then perhaps you could spare a little time to work. If you're behind, or the work needs improving, then this could be your chance to catch up. However, if money-worries will materially distract you from doing well, then the answer is straightforward: get a part-time job.

How do you pay your bills if you don't have a job? I'd consider getting a part time job and do the Ph D work around that. You'll have a little money for relaxation and not have to always worry how you'll pay for things.

You need cash to eat, unless you are living somewhere rent free you will need a place to sleep too. Nice to have some cash for gifts for others and basic needs. Anyways, you are not studying all the time.. it will be a break from the routine of school.

i think you should gt a job that can be done as and when on a casual basis- eg. delivery boy.
this means when you need extra cash you can work for it and when don't you can put all your energies into studying.
