I'll agree with eBay for a good start, but I'll disagree on the any OSX disk part. Apple started making their Restore sets model specific again! You need a restore set for a PB or iBook with at least the minimum version that was required for your iBook. (You can check the Support section at Apple.com for the minimum.) The restore set for a G-4/G-5 tower will not work in a laptop, iMac, etc. Been there-done that!! Given the choice between OSX-3x and 4x, go with the 4x (upgradeable free to 4.8 at the moment) Seems more stable and I've run into some software that won't run on 3.9. (including Widgets)

If you can find an OSX over the counter set, (Sold for any Mac and not bundled with a particular model) that will work too as long as it is at least the minimum version number required by your iBook.

You could search ebay. Almost any OS X disks (10.3.2, for instance) would work, and then upgrade to the latest 10.3.9.
