"Abortion obviously kills a living human. Abortion is bad. Therefore we must stop abortion." Accordingly, teaching placed its primary emphasis and most of its available time teaching fetal development. This worked beautifully. For the first two decades of our movement this method of teaching educated our nations and brought millions to a conviction that abortion was in fact a human rights issue and that it must be stopped. Being convinced that this was a living human, millions of people came to agree that — Abortion came to us through the law, lawmakers make laws, lawmakers appoint judges, we elect lawmakers. This direct realization fostered what today are major political forces, both in the U.S. and Canada.
By the late 80s and early 90s it was apparent to the pro-abortion industry that the pro-life movement was accelerating its momentum and showed definite signs of winning this battle. Accordingly, they took an entirely new look at the controversy. They did extensive and expensive market research to determine what they might do to change their approach to this issues with the goal of permanently locking in legal abortion in our time. From their research, focus groups, etc. several facts became apparent:
1) The industry renewed its commitment to never talk about the passenger inside of the woman. They realized that when they debated the fact of whether or not this is a baby, they consistently lost and pro-life teaching was consistently effective. Ultrasound and other medical advances played a major part in confirming this. Their conclusion was to never talk about what is inside of her. 2) The second conclusion was that pro-abortion forces should quit arguing about abortion itself. They recognized that when the facts of abortion was debated, the pro-life side consistently won.
3) They changed the question. Unable to win debating the issue as they saw it on pro-life terms, they cleverly changed the question. They changed it from "Is abortion right or wrong"? to "Who decides, the woman or the government? We believe that the government should stay out of this very private matter. The real question here is about a woman’s right to choose." It takes only a moment to realize that this is an entirely different question. Over a period of several years, by paid advertisements, by all pro-abortion leaders using the same party line, and by the enthusiastic cooperation of the liberal media, they largely succeeded in changing the terms of the debate.

I've never said, or heard any pro-choice person say that abortion isn't negative in any way. EVER.
Nor do pro-choice people encourage women to get pregnant so they can experience the joys of abortion.
Fact of the matter is, unwanted pregnancy is a very bad state to be in. The way to decrease unwanted pregnancy is through quality, accurate sex education, and easy availability of birth control.
That said, (especially given that this country has neither -- mostly due to the same people who oppose abortion), if a girl or woman is in a state of unwanted pregnancy, most Americans believe it should be her decision, not the government's, what to do about it.
Criminalizing abortion won't end the practice, it will harm and kill women and girls who get illegal abortions (that is, do more harm than legal abortions do).
It also puts females who are already going through hell in an even worse situation than unwanted pregnancy itself.
As far as I know, no one supports use of abortion as a form of birth control, and I doubt many women (if any) use it as such.
If those who truly wanted to stop abortions would put any effort into promoting birth control, instead of supporting policies that maximize the number of unwanted pregnancies, they'd stop more abortions than they do now.

I can testify to the fact, yes a fact, that abortions cause psychological health risks, Increase depression, drinking, maybe even drug use. I dont like the idea that abortion is viewed as an "get out of trouble card" in this country, prevention and understand the responsibility of having sex is important. Just an opinion

I believe a woman has a right to make her own choices. That said, the phrase "I dont think it should be used as a form of birth control" holds true. Meaning, If I have unprotected sex and get pregnant over and over with the thinking that I could just get an abortion, thats wrong, morally.

What are you TALKING about?
No one is "pro" abortion. Many people, however, are "pro" a woman's right to choose for herself what happens to her body.
Any organization that is pro-choice is also pro-birth control. The idea is that abortions should be kept safe and legal, but also made rare in the short term and unnecessary in the long run.
Education about women's bodies and what can be done to avoid an unwanted pregnancy or conceive a wanted one...that's what *I* believe in. With the option of abortion, just in case.

I am pro choice, I think a woman has a right to decide what she wants with her own body. That being said, I think if someone has an abortion, they should learn from their mistake of getting pregnant, and use caution to not do this again.
If someone has had multiple abortions, then I think that is wrong, because then they are using it as birth control, and are not taking precautions to not get pregnant.

Abortion should NOT be used as birth control. There are so many other ways to protect yourself that abortion should never be used as birth control. I think abortion should only be used in the case of sexual abuse or if the mother is in fatal danger. Abortion should not be an easy out.

Abortion is wrong and agree, shouldn't be used as a form of birth controll. I believe that every woman has a choice, I don't think I would like it if someone told me I couldn't do something with my own body, but do I agree with it...no...depending on the circumstances! I agree with adoption...I know that there are already way too many kids in the system, but most of them aren't their by choice...they were taken!

Abortion is a medical procedure; if a woman uses abortion as birth control and has several of these procedures done it can cause infertility. Because of the seriousness of the procedure it should be done as a "last resort." I DON'T like abortion, but I believe it should be legal - the alternative is too dangerous (i.e. illegal abortions, unwanted pregnancies which lead to child abuse/neglect, etc).

pro-choice and pro-abortion are not synonomous. pro-choice means that a woman has the right to choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy - in my mind, this would be incest, rape, pregnancy of a minor child, or risk to the mother's health.
note that I did not include "as a means to control the population, such as traditional birth control methods - condoms, the pill, etc."
to me, pro-abortion means abortion for the sake of abortion, as a primary method of birth control, rather than as a means of last resort.
