Please prove to me that you are right with some sort of website or something because I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Again basically what i'm asking is if i'm in a rally with my opponent, do i have to wait for the ball to bounce on my side to return it or can i return it before it bounces on my side (assume I know it would go in anyways...obviously)

You have to let the ball down on your side first then you can turn the ball back so... believe me I'm a table tennis player

From ping-pong.com:

"Question: Are volleys allowed in table tennis, as they are allowed in tennis?

Answer: No. If you volley the ball (hit it prior to its bounce) over the table surface you lose the point. If you try to volley the ball after it has missed the table, the point is yours as your opponent failed to make a legal return."

Yes it has to hit the table - you can't hit it in the air
