I am about to move into an apartment and I haven't seen any bugs but a friend of mine said sometimes they come out when people move back in. Is it worth it to bomb before I move in. Also, if I should bomb I am planning on painting and I want to know how long should I wait after I bomb to paint.

They make this stuff called "Roach Rid" that can be found at most co-op and/or feed stores. It's a white powdery substance with no odor and is very inexpensive...I think we paid $6 for a box. We put some behind the fridge, behind the washer and dryer and in the back of the cabinets under the sink in the kitchen. Inside of two months all bugs were gone. The way it works is the bugs walk through the stuff and carry it back to the nest. We lived in a quadriplex (4 apartments in one building) and after 3 months all units were bug-free. It is poisonous to animals, so if you can find it make sure you put it down in places that animal can't get to. Good luck!!

If you don't think the management is taking care of the apartment (including bugs), I would continue looking for a place that does. In many states, the carpet's must be cleaned, and new paint between each tenant. Any reputable apartment will have a monthly pest control plan, and many will have a full fumigation between tenants. Whenever you have a group of apartment's, regular pest control is the only way to keep bugs away. This is regardless of the cleanliness of each tenant, it just the nature of the close proximity of numerous households.

Bombs are chemicals. Why would you want that much chemical around if there are no bugs? It is try you might get bugs after you move in but they will come from another unit that your bomb will not touch so could would come anyway. Look in the drawers, cabinets, and such for tell tail signs before you waste $ on Bombs.

There are bombs out there that only take 3-4 hours until you can go back into the rom with pets. I'm sure that you can paint then. To be on the safe side, I would say overnight tops. You can find these at home depot.

You can bomb all you want, but if your neighbors are the ones with the bugs, they will come in your apartment no matter what you do. ALL the apartments have to be bombed in order for them to do any good.

I wouldn't bother. Paint and wait and see if you see any buggies. If you do see them The best thing to get rid of them is raid max gel. They completely killed all of them in my house and they never came back.
