hello there, I have a question .....my laptop side connector is bad...I have a Presario...supposedly Compaq repaired the issue but about 7 months after the warranty expired the issue came again...the adapter cable doesn't not fit snugly into the female jack...now I have to twist/turn/and do all sorts of things so that the connection remains so much so thaat the laptop does not move from its place as much as I can help it....but the problem is getting worse and frankly I am getting extremely frustrated....I know the connector is attached to the motherboard but what does that entail...what options short of buying a new system do i have? Please help!

P.S.
In your answer please give me specifics as to how to do whatever you're suggesting, please!

I don't know where you are but this computer store will fix your problem. You may have to send your machine to them but guaranteed you won't get ripped off. Give them a call.

There isn't that much that you can do. First, don't buy another Compaq. HP did buy them a while back making it a little better, but it isn't the best in the area of quality.

From what you're saying, I'm thinking that you're talking about your AC adapter to charge your battery. This is a hardware issue and you're quite limited to your options. Since you say that the connection is not snug in the jack, it is possible that there is a break in the AC adapter and not the motherboard. If you know someone with the same AC adapter borrow it and try it out. You could look up the AC adapter online, order it, and then always send it back if it doesn't solve your problem.

Since you're dealing with the power supply of the system there's a good chance that you're screwed. If this was a desktop you could go buy a new power supply. Take it up with Compaq's tech support and see what they'll do for you. There may be a warranty that extends past the manufacturers original for repairs.
