I haven't found a good enough biography to say one way or another.
However, I did find a picture of him that may suggest somthing different. I won't place a link to it, because it would violate Community Guidelines. I'll just say that he's touching another teammate inappropriately. (It may be a doctored photo, but it looks authentic.)

LaRussa didnt precisely say something undesirable, yet while media asked approximately Edmonds he only didnt prefer to talk approximately it. i think of he became going for a psychological war variety of difficulty, after Edmonds' enjoying the way he did for the cardinals theres no way you will desire to dislike him. yet once you observed yesterdays interest possibly you spotted the way he thew the bat on the cardinals dugout, way on the cardinals dugout this is extremely unorthodox.
