Is this for a job interview? You need to be a good listener, a problem solver. Able to multi task, i.e you may need to use the telephone at the same time as taking instruction over the phone and word processing skills such as word, excel or in house computer systems. Ability to think on your feet and use your initiative. Hard working, prepared to go the extra mile. Maybe able to spot a potential sale for sales leads to the sales team.

empathy-being able to appreciate the situation the customer is in,

polite-saying hello to customers-saying thankyou when they buy something-saying exuse me when you walk past them,

friendly-ask them how their day has been or say how nic the product is theyve bought,

remember them-customers love it when someone remembers them as it makes them feel valued

going the extra mile-offer them any other services or bonuses, like gift vouchers, account cards

smile!-its amazing how far it can go

build a rapport with the customer-look at their preferances and remember them

know your products-this helps the customers build trust in you and you come across as informative and friendly as you obviously know alot which shows you are commited

these are just a few of the things you need to consider, obviously im asuming you are in actual contact with the person, it all depends on what your selling and your market, and whether its door to door, over the pphone or store selling...

i i use these in my jobs (retail) and iv been poached by monsoon, principles, next, bhs, beatties, miss selfridge, river island. all these have me on stand by if i ever applie and or lose intrest in my current job. i asked them why they want me and they said it was down to y customer service

also we had a mystery shopper in our store and i got them 95% top score (i hadnt been wearing my badge which marked me down)

hope that helps and good luck!
