high fashion models shouldn't, because they are naturally skinny, for the most part, and it's not about them when it's high fashion. high fashion is about the art of clothing and design. the girls are kind of like walking hangers. they're meant to be seen by people who love fashion for the art. high fashion inspires commercial fashion.

commercial fashion, which is magazine work mainly, is for "normal sized" girls. they're meant to be the ones seen by the general public.

plus sized fashion is for curvy or fat girls. they are NOT "normal sized" (unless you live in america, j/k).

seriously, we have all seen those girls and women who aren't on the runway, eat all the time, don't throw up or do drugs, and they still look hella skinny. those kind of girls are the ones who should be on the runway. don't generalize models, because there are many kinds out there.

I feel fashion models should be a size 10, maybe 12 so that its still slim enough to show the clothes off well but more realistic to the people who are actually buying the clothes. I was disapointed in the Top Shop fashion show, as they should have had models with more realistic sizes, as they should no more than anyone, being a high street chain, that the majority of girls buying their clothes are not 6ft, and a size 6.

Yes I think models should be normal sized. By being 'normal' though they should reflect a cross section of the population, with all sizes being accepted. Although I think all sizes should be accepted there should be more emphasis on healthy lifstyles and everything in moderation. This will ensure a positive role model coming through to all the young (and older) people who are influenced by the fashion world.

Fashion models should be every size. What's normal anyway? Why can't we have a size zero next to a size twelve on a runway? Some people are naturally thin, they shouldn't be outcasts either. But since some people are naturally large, we should have both in the top modeling industry. I'm sure plus-sized women are tired of being in a whole other group. But I don't think thin women should have to be in a separate group either.

Because if not, young women must struggle with unrealistic body images. Also, women try to look like these models, and then young men, both from the young women around them and media images that bleed over from the world of fashion to the world of Movies and Television, get a distorted idea of what is attractive. How many fashion designers, photographers, etc. are strictly heterosexual? I think they like the women so thin because then they look more like young men. But knowing they must appeal to heteros, they encourage the too thin models to get fake large breasts. It's upsetting. When the trend away from voluptous women ala Marylin Monroe, towards absurdly thin women was first underway, I could tell my female friends, don't let cosmo influence you into thinking that is what men find attractive, look at Playboy. But now, a generation later, even the playboy models are ridiculously thin. America is growing ever more obese. More and more people, both men and women are becoming fat. Why? In part, I think it is depression over the unattainable images of too thin people we are being force fed by an uncaring media. The less chance there is of people feeling they can be attractive, the more they'll seek the solace of food. I speak here as a morbidly obese individual myself. Again, to invoke the Movie Goddesses of a generation ago, they'd all be considered cows by today standards. That means something has gone seriously wrong.

There is no such thing as normal.

I do think that each model needs to be at a healthy weight for her height. You would see all shapes and sizes on the runways, and it would help to promote health over beauty. I think it would discourage eating disorders and other things that young girls and teens do to look like their favorite model. And the clothing would look like it was on a person, not a clothes hanger. So more women might actually buy the clothing since they would know what it could look like on them. Plus, designers would be forced to stop trying to make clothing for the size 0's and 2's, and start designing things with real women in mind. If you go back more than 10 years and look at the models, you will see that most of them had curves and womanly bodies. They had a much healthier look to them, and it was something most women wanted to, and could, achieve. It was a realistic role model for teens, and eating disorders, diet pill abuse, and other things weren't as common.

P.S. GO SPAIN! I hope the rest of the world catches on, and fast!

When models are 6ft and size 2, chances are they will be underweight. If they want to use size 2 models, then they should use shorter models and if they want to use 6ft models, then they should use bigger sizes. There is nothing wrong with sizes 6-8, but they still insist no bigger than a size 4, which is ridiculous. HTH : )

Size zero is just wrong women should be appreciated for who they are not by the size of their waist. I can understand that fashion designers want to show off there wears but you may as well roll out a manikin (well even they have more meat on them than some of the models). I am not saying to put a load of obese women on the cat walk because that is sending out the wrong message too. If Mr Armani has banned 'the skeleton' look on his shows why doesn't everyone else?

I do not know one guy (and i am one of them) who finds cat walk girls attractive (and we are talking straight guys here), in fact its quite the opposite, so why do some women strive to be like that?

Fashion model should be sized like tha verage woman. First, marketing.....if you want someone to fall in love with yoru clothes and the way they would look on them...the model needs to actually look like them. Sized like a real person in the general public. Secondly, it would help young girls realize, pretty isn't about skinny. They are pretty just how they are. Self esteem is a major issue in the world, and so is bulimia and anorexia....all stemming from the desire to look like a model....and unrealistic and unhealthy attitude.

I don't think that there is a standard definition for a "normal" size, but I do feel models that are underweight promote a bad message to the public. They also, in my opinion, look frail and sickly. I don't happen to find stick skinny models to be very pretty.
