Everyone lived different and separate lives before the crash. Fate took them all to Australia for different reasons and all got booked on the same flight departing from Australia and set to land in Los Angeles. But it's crazy cuz all their stories are intertwined to everyone else's and not all of the characters know it. But the audience does.
