you may have mistakenly pressed a cheat code forbidding the character to get into cars. i've never seen this code. if you just started the game i suggest you erase any memory from the game and start all over. or it may possibly be that the "Y" button itself is not responding.

I think because Grand Theft Auto 1, 2, and 3 were in Liberty City. Just like 4, while San Andreas and Vice City were in, well San Andreas and Vice City. Oh, and I don't think all the numbered GTA's were set in the same time period, were they?

In PS2 you hit the triangle button. Xbox sucks so I dont know what you would press there.

on the PS2 press the triangle, if it doesn't work on a parked car, it means the car is locked and you have to go steal one from a pedestrian...On the PC, just press enter or f to get in the car, but same thing, if she can't get on a parked car, its locked.

Yes, it's the y button, stand close. If the door is locked you wont be able to get in.
