Does that indicate that the reason "people of color" don't get opportunity in this country in this day and age, is because of self-pity, and "having a chip on
ones shoulder?" An A.T., (attitude)?

This comes from a man who lived
with blacks most of his life. Half
my family is black.
Like I said, people can't relate
because of selfishness!

What exactly are you asking?? How am I supposed to relate to anyone in your far-fetched scenario?? As for the self pity, and attitude that is your perception and you obviously have preconceived notions or your attitude makes peole have a "chip on their shoulder".

There are many reasons. Black people have a lot of pride so for a white person to portray himself to be black is more of an insult to a black man than an honor. You can be a cool white boy that likes to hang around black guys it's all in how you present yourself. Whites although they may like black people, do not always know what you can and can not say that will insult another person and sometimes your families views on things come out in conversations. I am a "black woman" that is also Korean. Most of the world sees me as black for sake of conversation... I was adopted by a single white woman from birth. This same woman 28 years later told me my child has too much black in him. I have white friend I didn't let the prejudice of my family change the way I thought of people but all in all it does make you more hesitant to trust whites because you don't know if you can trust them. You could trust them your whole life and still not trust them. It makes people a little stand offish. People still wonder why we don't trust cops either but here in NC they got off on a technicality that the prosecutor made, and then about a week later some cops beat up a preacher. If you get kicked in the head enough times you’re going to move it until you feel like its ok to put it back down again.

My first thought is, "Where are you from?" As a westerner, I don't see much of that going on; however, I have traveled the country, and I get the feeling it's more prevalent in the South and Midwest.

As a white man, I will tell you flat out that I'm somewhat threatened by the pop culture dominance of the minority communities. Everybody wants the cultural group they associate with to be considered the coolest. Right now, that's not white. But it doesn't make me hateful. I mean, a lot of white America is so ignorant and prejudice that I don't want to be associated with them either. Australians are considered cool; I hope to move there and become one of them.

I don't follow. Are you saying that you're white and that other whites hate you because you don't hate blacks? That's pretty odd. And then you conclude that because some black people don't relate to you that we have a chip on our shoulder?

Dude, whatever you're dealing with is personal. Stop trying to generalize your personal experiences to the whole society.

When someone can't relate to someone else's experience it's not because they don't want to, it's because they don't share a common experience. Not being accepted by other white people doesn't bring you closer to the black American experience.; it just means that you now know what it's like to be hated on for being a turncoat (as that is how these white people see you). Whites who hate blacks hate them for being black.

I think black people distrust white sympathizers because they want to chart out black emanicipation. This is not good because they know very little about problems in the black community.

As Malcolm X said in one his speeches, the best thing white men can do for the black struggle is to stay away and support the black struggle from the outside.

OH my what a tangled question
And how patronizing is that

People are people, neither black nor white.
we all have strengths and weaknesses .

and we are here ,on this beautiful earth together .

i know of many prejudices in all races ,
but no good comes from that sort of mindset

Be happy! Live and let live !!!

The fact that people like you are conscious about race is a sad reflection on the country.

I am one of the "whites" you lump all together. Funny thing is I don't hate you for not hating blacks or anyone else. Your entire sentance is one massive ridiculous generalization.
