You need to chart you cycle to figure out when you are most fertile. The simplest way is to take your temperature every morning when you wake up. Your temperature will rise when you ovualte (around the middle of your cycle) and will stay higher until your next period. One you ovulate the egg remains viable for 12-24 hours only. You should have sex for a few days before you ovulate and one day afterwards.

Another sign to keep an eye on is your mucus. It becomes stretchy lke egg white around the time you ovulate. Spern can survive for a maximum of 5 days in this most fertile mucus.

If you ae married then the charity LIFE has a fertility awareness programme. Also the Couple to Couple League offer an excellent home study course which I can highly recommend.

Also, are you taking prenatal vitamins? You should make sure you are as healthy as possible in order to give your baby the best start!

Based on a 28 day cycle, 14 days after the first day of your period is the best time. Stay lying down for at least an hour afterwards.

Best Time To Get Pregnant
One of the most frequently cited concerns among couples trying for a baby is the best time to get pregnant. While a pregnancy can occur at almost anytime during the month, the most fertile period and the best time to try to get pregnant is during the period of ovulation. During this fertile time, a mature egg is released into the uterus. At this time, that egg is ready for fertilization, and it remains in this highly fertile state for about 12 hours, after which the fertility begins to decrease.

Using changes in fertility to get pregnant in less time
The best way for couples to take advantage of this fertile period is to pay attention to the woman’s body and to watch closely for physical signs of ovulation. Every woman is different, and not all women will experience all the classic signs of ovulation. No one knows her body better than the woman herself; staying attuned to monthly changes is the best way for each woman to take advantage of her most fertile time of the month.

One tried and true sign of ovulation is the change in the volume and texture of a woman’s cervical mucus. This is a change that is easy to track, and it can be a good sign of ovulation. The best time to get pregnant is when the cervical mucus is clear in color and slippery in texture. Timing intercourse to correspond with this period is a good way to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Other signs of ovulation
Another popular method of tracking the best time to get pregnant is to track rises in basal body temperature. After ovulation, the basal body temperature can rise from half a degree to as much as 1.6 degrees. While this temperature rise is difficult to detect, it can be tracked through the use of a basal thermometer. Since the best time to get pregnant actually occurs two to three days before that temperature peaks, it will take a few months to get the timing right. Many women also use the presence of lower abdominal pain as an indicator of ovulation. About 20% of women are actually able to feel themselves ovulate. These signs range from a mild ache to twinges in the lower part of the abdomen.

Things to remember about the best time to get pregnant
The most important thing when trying to get pregnant is to relax and have fun. After all, trying for a baby should be a fun and joyful experience for the couple, not a chore. Spontaneity and a sense of adventure will not only help reduce stress but has been shown to increase fertility as well. Focusing on your relationship as well as your fertility is the best way to start your family off right.

Go and get an ovulation kit. If you don't want to do that, here's a website you can go to and have unprotected sex around this time...

Also, take some multi-vitamins to ensure yourself, if your not sure, that you're completely healthy for a pregnancy.

I hope this helped!
