If a woman can "decide" whether she wants to have the baby or not without the consent of the father and she decides to keep the baby do you believe that he should automaticlly be financially responsible for that child. Too many women get pregnant and decide to collect state aid and child support as if it's their profession. Not to babble, I'm pro-life. I just saw the question from the gentleman who wondered why he had no rights to prevent an abortion. I just don't know if I think the father should have to pay support for 18 years. Shouldn't he be given just as many choices as the woman? This is why people should not be having sex outside of a fully committed relationship.

I am a grown woman of 32 and I have children of my own "sweethheart" i was just wondering if anyone else thought like me. If i got pregnant and the man said "Get an abortion, I do not plan to help you support the child" I would tell him to go to hell and I would take care of my child myself. But most women don't. Most women get angry and evil and vindicitive and try to bleed the men dry. But the poor men who want their children have ZERO rights, i just don't think it's just.

I totally agree with you. But that is such a controversial issue because in order to prove that the father wanted the mother to have an abortion then I would have to go to court within the first 3 months of pregnancy in order to give up parental rights. Otherwise, every man who decides after the fact that he does not want a child would claim that he shouldn't have to pay. It is all so easy to find fault I do not think that there will every be a system that will truly work, besides mandatory birth control which is controversial because of religion.

Sweetheart you have a lot to learn about life. You should not even be on this site where are your parents, baby-sitter, somebody? Yes a father should have to pay child support if a woman decides not to have an abortion. If he didn't want to have a child, then he should have taken proper precautions or not had sex at all. It take two to make a baby therefore two should have to be responsible for the baby. Yes a woman does have the right to choose wether or not she wants to have an abortion or keep the baby. That is because 90% of the time or more the woman is the one stuck with the responsibility of taking care of the baby. Your right people who are not in a committed relationship should not have sex. However, in the grown up world that's just not how things work. A man and a woman can be in a commited relationship and things just not work out; however if a child is conceived then arrangements have to be made to care for this life. You cannot predict the future sweetie. You can plan to the best of your ability but there will always be bumps in the road.

The man has no rights in this matter because it is not his body. If a woman chooses to have the child at that time she should also inform the father to be of her decision. Knowing that some women are taking advantage the system, men should be more care full when choosing their partners.

There's no law but I saw the fight on Dr.Phil . This guy is fighting not to pay child support on the ground he should have a right to choose if the child is born or not and he didn't want it .It's such a cute little girl who's heart he's breaking and it's his flesh and blood but he can stand and say he wanted her dead .I think it will be a big issue after his case and maybe made into some kind of law.

Well I hate to sound cliche by saying you play you pay but hey whether the baby is planned or not or the father does not want the baby the fact is the baby has to be supported, the father had the right to keep his zipper up or protect himself . after the baby is conceived his right until birth don't mean crap cause the woman caries the baby.and yes we have women in this country having children to just stay on welfare but Clinton made changes in our welfare program to stop that which makes it harder to get welfare. you either have to work or go to school now, my advice is if you don't really know the woman then keep it zipped or covered cause no matter what you want it might not be what she wants.

he should be financially responsable for the baby, if prooven that the child is his after birth. if he feels that he does not want the baby he can sign over all rights to the mother and she cannot collect child support from the father. but remember, he is just as responsible for getting her pregnant as she was getting pregnant. it takes two to tango so to speak, there are consiquenses to everyone's actions.
