It's only been two days, so it's not too late to save yourself. First thing: take all Green Day paraphernalia and dispose of it in the garbage. Then go out to a good record store and pick up some real punk rock: Sex Pistols, Ramones, and The Clash are a good start. From there you will refine your taste in punk rock and wonder why you listened to that Green Day garbage in the first place.
Please do the above. You WILL thank me later, I guarantee it!

ok, i don't mean to overally insult, but please take this as a bit of advice?
-as with most bands, older fans who have been loyal for YEARS get very pissed when new fans are "OMG they are so hawt! and billie joe is like the hawest!" and all that. i haven't even been a fan for that long (2-3 years ago cause i just discovered rock music then aka also discovering green day)
-be respectful, YES billie joe is married (*gasp!* he even has kids!) and YES all of the guys are in their early 30's...
-american idiot is not their first album. it's their 9th the band's first official record (1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours) was recorded in 1991.
so yeah, i don't mean to be offensive, but just realize that you aren't the only fan that loves them to death, look beyond American Idiot (while it's great there is loads of other great records by them too) and be respectful to the guys.
it just bothers me (and MANY other fans; some i'm sure it drives them up the wall) when we see new fans that don't respect the band and there music, once you get to know more of their music you'll earn respect for yourself.....

You just got into Green Day a few days ago? Let me guess, you must be 12. In a few years you will realize that there are much better bands out there that aren't on the radio and MTV. There's a whole other world out there. Don't get me wrong, I like Green Day, ok, but there are so many better bands out there. I think everybody likes them a lot when they are 12.
