I always make sure they wear rubber gloves when cleaning up crime scenes so they don't leave their little fingerprints everywhere. I mean, they've never been convicted, but there's no reason to make it easy.

Unless the kids have some kind of allergy to household products, No I wouldn't let them were anything. In fact is they are doing dishes I would be happy because they really will get there hands clean. Gardening they do sell Children's Garden Gloves, for that I would say yes, only because my Grand kids don't like there hands in the dirt. At there young age, the moisture that stays in the rubber gloves could harm them more that help them.

Personally, I hate wearing gloves. I find them hot, sweaty, hard to get off, and I can't feel what I'm doing with them on.

I would say they should wear them washing dishes tho, because they can't handle the temperature of the water that is needed to get the dishes clean.

But I have a better idea for washing dishes that gets you both together, and gives you some individual time to talk, with your child, for about 20 minutes.

You wash them, and then put them in a sink of VERY hot water to rinse. Your child can use a pair of tongs to get them out of the water, and put them in the drain tray.

My grandmother used to do this with my brother and I, and we still have fond memories of that. I actually still wash my dishes like that.

As for actually wearing gloves. I agree with another poster who said that they should wear them when cleaning the toilet, or they'll just whine about the job being gross.

Other than that, let them chose when they want to wear them, Unless what they're using is dangerous to skin. Just make sure they're not allergic to the material the gloves are made of.

Good Luck!

I suppose I am one of the children you are referring to. Best place to hear it is from the horse's mouth right?

The only things I wear gloves for are dish-washing, cleaning my bathroom and cooking raw meat. Mainly that's my slight germ-phobia in those areas but I figure it couldn't hurt. Though, even when wearing gloves, remind them to wash their hands! Gloves are a mere precaution, not a solution.

Other than that, I only wear gloves when it's cold, when gardening, or practicing archery. I assume you aren't talking about those kinds of gloves - but those are good times to wear them too!

LOL! My children doing chores???? Oh, I wish I could answer this question. When they do HAPPEN to do something, no they don't wear gloves. But if you can get them to do anything it would seem that gloves don't matter for dishwashing but definately good for gardening.

no kids so take this like a grain of salt!
you may even say yuck!
but if you shelter your kids from this stuff normal stuff then when they are subjected to it it will be harder forthem to adjust!
Mainly if you don't wear gloves while doing a chore then your kid don't need too!

sort of like building up ammunity to stuff!
this one artical i read grossed me out but makes sence and reminds me of a flue shot!
nose picking! it's bad becasue of the bacteria you stop going into your styem! well they say people who eat that yucky stuff are less likley to get sick becaue they are giving themselfs a small dose of the bacteria and thast the same with the flu shot!

so in my eyes! your kid is around you more they should follow your steps not your cousin steps!

I for one would say gardening just as a protection you never know what is in that dirt! glass and it hurts to get cut! but you win some and lose some! i still won't ware my gloves! :)

my kids don't do many household chores, but they are expected to clean the urine off the potty (they are boys), and I keep Lysol wipes within their reach. We make sure they wash their hands with soap frequently. I do professional cleaning in homes and offices and I don't wear gloves. I haven't been ill with anything more than a headcold in 7 yrs. Its handwashing that makes the difference, not gloves. Not everyone can wear them due to allergies.

yes i do, if you have to clean anything, germs are everywhere and think about it, would you do it without any gloves? Would you wash your dishes without any gloves, clean toilets, anything. make sure they where gloves and for somethings masks. and if it's to dangerous, make sure the adult does it!! People joke by saying "let the kids do the dishes, that's why we had them in the first place." No that is not why. they are children and yes they do need responsibilities, but you are the parent. You can do it. :D

I have three kids and no I dont make them wear gloves for anything. Prolly becase ill fitting protection is worse than no protection. PPE should fit right, and I havent seen any rubber gloves that fit children. If I did find some, I couldnt imagine what i would kinda chorse they would need them for.
