I keep getting pop ups, saying my registry needs repairing and to go to an address to repair it. It is using the messenger programme to put up the pop ups (not msn messenger) I have put my "problems" into google, and everywhere tells me to go to "services" and double click on messenger and disable it. I did that and thought all would be well, but 5 minutes later, up it pops again Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!! Any help would be much appreciated

You have spyware on your system. There are several variants that will pop up a window on your system and ask you to scan using a link. This usually installs more software on your pc and acts like an antivirus or spyware program, but usually just bloat the number of infections on your computer to scare you into purchasing their software.

Fix: Download and install these programs. Microsoft Defender, Ad Aware, Spybot S&D, Enwido, and I am sure some one can recomend another two or three good Spyware removal programs. Once installed, go to each program and run the updates. You don't have to run a scan just yet. Once all updates are installed, reboot your computer into Safe mode by pressing the F5 key before Windows Logo pops up (while computer is restarting).

Run a scan with all the forementioned programs, removing everything that they find.

If this doesn't work, maybe a system restore to an earlier time would be the next easiest solution. Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore. Follow the directions on the screen and choose a date that was before your system started acting up.

Note: also make sure your antivirus is up to date.

PS. Don't use StopSign, it is crap. If you have used several Spyware programs and they do not remove the bug while in safemode. Download HiJackthis, you can find it at Merjin. org i believe. Run it, and post the log it creates. Do not remove anything I will take a look and tell you what to remove.

It would really help if you would let me know what address does the pop-up asks you to go to?

I will check back again after you put the information and give you specifics on how to get rid of them. I had the problem once and it was basically a spyware program, and I was able to remove it with some help.

Window Vista has far greater characteristic plus greater proper hardware that help vista with window xp extremely any applications which could shop up with greater cutting-edge technologies. Plus explanation why they make a 2d Verizon of a product is on the grounds that's greater proper then the a million st verizon. So earlier you initiate off asserting window xp is greater proper then vista this is obviously no longer because of the fact with window xp barley has any applications can it help blue teeth? Can window xp be hook up with xbox 360 or ps3? vista can yet plus those people who're asserting xp the two cant have sufficient funds vista or has a older computing device.... and likewise they made a greater cutting-edge verison of vista much less glichts.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus. The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

Try a pop up blocker. Also try firefox as web browser, its better than IE at blocking these sites. Also do a spyware scan. download ad-aware or spybot seek and destroy. You may have malicious software on your pc.

It sounds like a trojan, run a good anti spyware such as AVG Antispyware in Safe Mode and if that doesn't clear it switch off System Restore , boot in Safe Mode and run it again.

Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode
repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it. All the following programs are free for personal use;

You need to install one firewall.
