I don't have $ to pay 40 or 80 dollars per month for a cell phone that I would use for emergency purposes and just between my husband and I for traveling and such. Does anyone know of a plan that would only cost $20 or less? I know they have those pay as you go plans - but then the minutes run out if you don't use them after you buy them right? What's the best idea for me?

Actually prepaid (or pay as you go) sounds perfect for your situation. $100 will get you 1000 minutes with T-Mobile. Cingular has a similar plan with a daily fee of $1 on days that you actually use the phone. For both of these providers, the minutes last for a year (if you buy $100), and the expiration is extended when you refill. With T-Mobile, the first $100 purchase gets you Gold Rewards status so subsequent refills for as little as $10 will extend the expiration an additional year.

Assuming TMO reception works well in your area, I'd go with them. Probably the best deal from a cost perspective. The first year you'll pay $100 for 1000 minutes. Then once a year you add at least $10, and the minutes remain in your account.

T-Mobile.

They have myfaves, call any 5 people FREE.

T-Mobile has MyFaves for Families, which means you and your husband can have their own 5 people to call.

Right now T-Mobile is giving away a free camera phones and 1 myfaves phone. Hurry! While supplies last!
