Well, i am in MI and the sun does set every night. So on the eastern side of the USA, the sun still sets; but it sets in the West. lol

The way i remember it is:

Japan = Far East = Land of the Rising Sun...

so sun rises from the east ..

a little convoluted..but works :p

The sun never sets in the east but if your on the north pole it sets in the south and on the south pole it sets in the north.(every 6 months) Kinda weird but true.
