I think that it is an excellent name, for you would be naming your son after the Byzantine emperor(s), but for one thing... Some very asinine and ignorant people may claim that you named your son after the character from the comics and that horrendous movie of the same name, and you don't want that type of trouble. But if you honestly got the idea from the emperor who built Constantinople, and who made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, then by all means do so.
By the time he grows up, how many people would have heard of the comics or that movie? Not too many. So if you want to name him Constantine, go ahead. I think it is an excellent name. You could always use the Greek form, Konstantinos, which I think is even nicer.

Its a long name for a first name and the rule is if you're going to have a long first name, there should be a short version of it. Like Chris for Christopher. I can't think of a good short version for Constantine.

Constantine is a very christian name, and is the name of the ruler who declared christianity as the religion of the empire. His mother was named Helen. They are often portrayed together in christian/ byzantine art.
If you are not a christian, and do not value his works, then I would say that you shouldnt name him after an emperor in favor of christianity. If you do know his story and accept what he was about, then I think its a great name.

It's unique and might raise a few eyebrows (hey, Constantine was an emperor you know) but if you really like it then why not. Just give him a normal middle name so if he wants to go by something else while in school, he can.

Constantine. That is the most gayest name I've ever heard since Cubert. That sounds like a girl name. He will get teased. He might even turn out gay if your lucky. He will cross dress and change his name to Rainbow. Do you want that for your son?!
Plus remember he has to write his name on the top of his papers. I met this girl named Rebecca Folgesong. She was always the last to finish her test because she had to write her wholename. Just give him a normal cute name. If you want a really gay name, or just want to find out what others are thinking about this, go to http://www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/

i like it and as for a male nick name you can call him Stan but it is going to be hard to find a middle name to fit with it but if it is your first born why don't you name it after your self or use your first name and if there is a male version of your wife use it for the middle name and congradualtion on you new baby
