I wouldn't say Complex Analysis is the most difficult. A lot of complex analysis is problem-solving, rather than pure proofs, so that makes it a little easier and fun.
Real Analysis is 100% proofs, and I found it quite hard, as did a lot of my classmates.
Number Theory and Abstract Algebra can be quite hard too.
Complex Analysis was an easy A for me. Real Analysis I struggled to get a B. Abstract Algebra I took twice, and got a D twice! The only D in my entire life!

I am a math teacher with a masters degree in mathematics. The hardest math class is relative to the person taking it of course however when I was in school the one course everyone hated and avoided as long as possible was Real Analysis. Some schools call it other things (complex analysis is different). Complex analysis was a lot easier because it could be studied both theoretically and graphically. Real analysis (calculus analysis) can only be studied theoretically and is far more difficult.
The course I felt was the hardest was differential equations 4, which is like Calculus 8 at the school I attended.

I guess the real question is, what is the highest rank of math. NOT the hardest. like everyone else is saying, the hardest is an opinion. seeing as to im only in junior high, i really dont know, but my algebra 1 teacher said Calculus is the highest rank of math. i think it is taught in college..

No-one can answer this for you. Different people find different things difficult. Complex analysis is pretty intricate, but it has straightforward, well defined processes.

i would say the hardest math class for EVERYONE, was the first class on adding/subtracting/multiplying and dividing fractions (or rational numbers).
once someone is passed this class, all the other classes are about the same. some take more math classes and some do not.

Oh just try modern mathematics. I mean, Schwartz distributions, convolution, generalized functions and the like. It just doesn't make any sense.
