I just need to build a simple site. I created the layout for my webpage with a table. I now want to put an image into one of the cells and add some form data on top of that image. Doing this with layers seems very complicated because the layers wont snap into the table or stay where i want them to when i preview it in a broswer, and i dont want to deal with all the backend code. Isnt there a simpler way to do this with dreamweaver?

Using CSS (layers ) is the BEST way to design and maintain a code clean layout

TABLES are used for TABULAR data. Not for layout.

Please visit these sites for help with layers/divs/css

http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/
http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

the reason why you are having problems is simply
1) you are using them inside a table (bad bad bad bad bad)
2) you haven't defined your div/layer (ie width, placement etc) in relation to your table (again, bad bad bad bad)

hey why dont u use Front page. Do whatever u feel comfortable in Dreamweaver and then switch over to Frontpage. Layers and table stuff goes nicely with frontpage. I use both one by one when i get stuck in one of that. But believe me, front page has many wonderful options like tables which are quite complicated in dreamweaver. So just for it.
Wish u good luck

You can use the image as the background for that cell, just change that into the Property Inspector. And then add the form data as the text to that cell. Shouldn't be that difficult.
