Neither. A prime number has exactly two distinct factors, and 1 has only one. And obviously it isn't composite.

Some people will say 1 is prime, but they are wrong.

It's neither. 1 is not considered prime nor composite number. It is in its own class. 2 is always the smallest prime number.

neither. A prime number is a natural number that has exactly two distinct natural number divisors: 1 and itself. The number 1 is by definition not a prime number.

The difference between a composite number and a prime number is:

Prime numbers are only divisible by itself and 1 (ie, like 3, 5, 7)
Composite numbers are divisible by itself, 1 and OTHER numbers (ie, 4 which is divisible by 1, 4 and 2. 6 which is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 6).

So you tell me if 1 is a prime number or composite number

It is neither prime nor composite.
There a lot of prime number properties that are easily proved if one assumes that one is not prime. So, by definition, 1 is not prime.
