Pete Sampras is an amazing player, but Federer is currently ON FIRE.... he has killer skill in every part of his game. He has an ace serve, not as tough as Andy Roddick, yet still amazing, and doesn't show significant weakness in his forehand or backhand. R Fed's Game is insane.

I'll say Federer is the better player all around. But, I think Sampras is the better grass court player because he had a bigger serve and had a slightly better volley.
In my opinion Federer is more fun to watch because points last longer than 1 or 3 shots.

federer cos i started watching tennis when sampras had almost retired so i have only watched federer so he is my favourite.

Federer....has no flaws......Sampras did have a weaker backhand...and he is way to arrogant.....

Oh and because of his forehand.
... And his backhand, slice-backhand, his serve, the way he moves, his footwork, and his mental-strength. :-D
