Since when couldn't you say Merry Christmas?

I'm an atheist, and I'm flattered when someone tells me Merry Christmas. It's basically that person saying, "I'm welcoming you to celebrate, too."

There are some people who aren't Christian who would be offended by it, because they feel that the person saying Merry Christmas is trying to force christianity down the throat of someone who has no interest in it. But I'm more of an easy-going guy, so i really have positive feelings about it or none at all.

Bugger it. I'll say Merry Christmas, just because that's what I've always said, religious implications notwithstanding. I'm not a religious person, but I still say Merry Christmas. If someone is offended by that, well, that's their issue, not mine.

I don't mind if people say Merry Christmas if they actually mean it and aren't just saying it out of convention or in an attempt to put me in the "holiday spirit" which isn't going to happen.
