ok im 38 weeks pregnant and my doctors told me last week at my 36w 6d appointment that my cervix was very long and closed and i didnt even ask her what this meant does any body know? i did a whole bunch of walking yesterday and plan on doing some today do you think i could be dialated some by wednesday which is my next appointment

There is no way of telling. Labor will come when your body and your baby are ready. If they aren't ready, nothing you do will force labor. Be patient. All babies do eventually come out. :-)

Your cervix needs to soften before it opens-dilates. I wouldn't worry about not being dilated at 36 weeks. At 38 weeks, I was at 2-and I didn't budge by 39 weeks, but I still delivered on time.
I tried all the old wives tales, too (including walking 3 miles a day). I don't think it sped things up, but I did have an easy labor, which they say can be the result of exercising during pregnancy.
The bottom line is don't stress it...I was still at 2 when I went in the hospital, and I delivered in less than 8 hours start to finish. My friend was dilated to 4 at 38 weeks, and she had to be induced.

I did not dialate early with any of my 3 girls... it is generally not something you want to do too early .You should be thankful for being closed at 36 weeks. Dont rush it ... its not good for your system. Let nature take its course.
