does anybody out there have a problem with the populace being trained to accept being tagged (via school id that is required to be shown at all times), monitored (like surveillance cameras, through the internet, through your bank account and job), and searched (like the random pointless searches that take place at airports, schools, and whenever the cops feel like it)?

Police CANNOT search you "whenever" they feel like it. You must be engaged in something "wrong" in order to be searched. Many times you still have to agree to the search.

But in answer to your question, I happen to have a huge problem with it. I mean, I understand why we should have ID on us, in these times of war, terrorism, and illegals, but that doesn't mean that elementary school kids should have chips on their IDs so we can locate them at any moment. It doesn't mean that cameras should be located on every street corner. And it sure as hell doesn't mean that I have to subject myself to a search without cause.

If you have nothing to hide then the watching shouldn't bother you. Gone are the days of innocence and ignorance. Terrorists can attack anywhere at anytime. Look how easy and accepted it is to carry a concealed weapon.

In this day and age, it's a necessary evil. However, that doesn't mean I like or enjoy it. Big Brother is truly watching us, and it definitely gives me the creeps when I think about HOW MUCH the gov't etc really knows. Reminds me of "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith.

WELL THE SAD TRUTH IS THAT WE LIVE IN A VERY DIFFERENT WORLD NOW. THE TIME OF INNOCENCE IS OVER. WHEN YOU HEARD ABOUT TERRORISM YOU USE TO THINK THAT A MIDDLE EAST PROBLEM WE DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT. BUT TODAY WE DO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT AND IF A FEW LIBERTIES HAVE TO BE SURRENDERED IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN AN AURA OF SAFETY SO BE IT. WE ARE JUST CATCHING UP TO OUR EUROPEAN COUNTER PARTS. THEY HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE TERROR ISSUE LONGER THAN WE HAVE. IT SAD BUT WE ARE LIVING IN A VERY DIFFERENT WORLD TODAY.
