There are ice hotels around Scandinavia specially built for seeing the Aurora, even through the glass roof of the bedroom if the budget stretches to one of those places. Otherwise look up hostel accomodation as far north as you feel comfortable with. Stay away from big towns. The street lights will spoil the view. Have you considered Iceland. Lots of hostels, great people. Only really expensive in Reykjarvic.Look at Hostels.com and click on the individual hostels under Iceland to see whats available. Check it out for Norway too,of course,if that's where you want to be.Take a camera with a very wide angle lens. Exposures will vary from 2 seconds to about 40 seconds at f2.8 on 400ASA film so you'll need a good tripod or other support.
