The whole point of the Game is to keep people phoning up at the 75p/£1 per shot, nothing to do with mathematics. Obviously if we apply normal operator precidence to the sum we would all get the right answer and the game is over. This isn't very proffitable so they use what ever arbitarary rules of math they invent to get the figure so they make more money. In reality this makes your guess just that a guess not an answer. The whole rub on this is that if this game was a game of chance which it really is then you need to have Odds of 0.7 of getting your money back if it's a game of skill like they report then you don't need to give 0.7 of the money back thus its better to have a skill game than a game of chance!

I've seen that thing. It's a big con. You can't work it out. If your going to enter, you might as well just take a wild guess.

That's not the question as it was presented. Some of the numbers were written out in words, weren't they? Those words were comprised of letters which could have numeric values and not just the obvious ones like roman numerals. H for example. That's not a roman numeral but it is the symbol for Hydrogen which has an atomic value. You could compile an almost infinite number of correct answers for that question as they present it.
It is a cheat.

Well surely it's a big con because anything multiplied by 2 ends up as even.

And 7 divided by 2 equals 3.5
