I sort of need help on a couple of aspects. I'm searching the net for some legit articles. I appreciate any reputable links on:

The success rate of rehabilitating pedophiles.
The arguments against capital punishment for pedophiles.
The likelihood of repeat offenses.
And the studies of damage caused to the victim.

Thankyou!

The only problem I'd have with state executions of pedophiles is making certain that errors weren't made. Usually, the people best positioned to determine guilt or innocence are those who are nearest to the crime when it happens, who saw it, or saw the immediate evidence of it.

I'd be in favor of the summary execution of pedophiles by eyewitnesses to pedophilia crimes. I'm less in favor of executions by state judicial processes because lawyers and liars and political favoritism are certain to let half the guilty go free and are also certain to unjustly execute some number of innocent people.

Any politicized government process, judicial or otherwise, always becomes corrupt sooner or later, and once corrupted the "cure" becomes worse than the "disease."

There is a great book by Anna Salter, a woman who has interviewed hundreds of sex offenders, you should check it out. It is called Predators: Pedophiles, Rapists, & other Sex Offenders. There is also a United States Supreme Court case: Coker v. Georgia that found the death penalty for rape of an adult unconstitutional (it is silent on the issue of rape of a child) but it might be useful in addressing arguments against the death penalty. Also, South Carolina and Florida were recently trying to enact legislation establishing the death penalty for rape of a child, if you search Google News you may be able to find some of the reasoning those States were using in the legislation. Also, when you title your article it needs to be "Capital Punishment for the Rape of a Child" Pedophilia is a psychological diagnosis and pedophiles are a small minority of the people who commit sexual acts with children. Most child molesters and child rapists do not meet the DSM criteria for a diagnosis of pedophilia.

Sounds interesting. Sorry I can't help directly, but...

When you look at the damages caused to a victim, that tends to make capital punishment a form of revenge, as a way to make someone feel better through another's death.

I am pro-death penalty, but I don't want it to be used as an eye for an eye punishment.

Your first and third points are strong reasons for never releasing them back into society. I'd personally focus on those aspects in your paper.

Good luck with your research.

Nope! Why should they get an express ticket to their Judgement Day? Let 'em rot down here for 20 - 50 years or so! They are the "lowest of the low" in the prison system and are treated as such. Often serve as "girlfriend" to multiple large, foul-smelling Nazi skinhead sociopaths. It's actually cheaper to keep then locked up for life without parole once the cost of appeals is taken into consideration. If you want to save tax dollars, it's like getting divorced: It's cheaper to keep 'em. Lastly, there are false accusations, improper identifications, and erroneous convictions all the time. The death penalty makes it impossible to put these right. And if you want to play the religion card, consider this: "Thou shalt not kill." doesn't include a waiver for the state! "Vengance is mine, sayeth the Lord." So you'd best be careful of whom you THINK you're thanking there, Sparky! Satan has an orgasm every time we pull the switch because he's snookered yet another "Good Christian."

Rather than doing an essay about Capital Punishment for Pedophiles, perhaps you should do an essay about Capital Punishment for Child Molesters instead. Otherwise, your essay would incorrectly suggest that pedophilia is a crime. Pedophilia is a condition in which an adult is sexually attracted to a child. It is not a crime in itself to be attracted to children anymore than it is a crime to think. The crime you are more likely referring to is child molestation. To write an essay about Capital Punishment for Pedophiles incorrectly assumes that all pedophiles are child molestors.

This is just a comment for your consideration. The chances of rehabilitating a smoker a drinker or a gambler are many to one, imagine trying to rehabilitate a person that have his mind all messed up, and we still don't know how the mind really works. Place one of your children in the bad end of one of this predators, will you pardon him or invent something worst than the Chinese torture. They should not exist but even in your church you find them, according to what I see in the news. Good luck.

google is your friend:

pedophiles can not be rehabilitated. They are who they are, and what we do, is to help them control their urges, wants and desires. We, cannot take away what they "believe".

Captial punishment is not a fitting sentence for pedophiles. CP should only be rerserved for those who have committed much haneous crimes (murder, serial killers etc)

likeliehood for repeated offenses by pedophiles are high

studies of damage caused to victims are few and because of many privacy acts, are sometimes inconclusive.
