I would like to know how much is a1942 silver mercury dime worth?

Unless it is in a high mint state grade it is worth only the silver value. 7-8 times face. Now there is a rare over date. Look at the 2 in 1942 and see if there is a one under it. If so, it is a rare coin and worth several hundred dollars. You did not mention a mint mark but is there is one it is on the back (reverse) at the bottom next to the E in one. There is a D over-date also, but no S. D- Denver,S-San Francisco.

Yes, definitely. The silver content alone makes them worth several times their face value. Now depending on condition, mint mark, rarity, these dimes could be worth a lot of money. Go to a book store or library, and get a book on numismatics. Look up the coins in this coin guide to get an idea what they could be worth.

Below is a website with average value listings. You also need to understand that the condition of the coin can greatly alter it's actual value. Do some research on coin grading and try to determine what kind of condition your coin is in.
