Pecan Pie
Rhubarb Pie
Cherry Pie

All are very good and would go down just as well as pumpkin pie after a Thanksgiving day dinner. Actually, any pie will do!

We have many pies... Apple, Pumpkin, Mince and Pecan are just perfect with a Thanksgiving dinner. We also add some dessert pies that are a bit different each holiday. Coconut Cream is great, Lemon Meringue is delicious but takes a little time to prepare (unless you get from your local bakery!!) My favorite is Pumpkin Chiffon, takes time to prepare but gets rave reviews each and every time. Happy Thanksgiving!

Ive made this for the last few years and it has been a hit:

get a pillsbury top and bottom pie crust. Buy a can of apple pie filling and a can of cherry pie filling. Mix the pie fillings together in a bowl, and add about 2 tsp of ground cinnamon. Stir it all up and put it in the pie crust. Cover with the top crust and bake per the longest instructions on either the cherry or the apple can.

Its a great pie, and super with vanilla ice cream on top!

If you are not going with pumpkin, any kind of pie would be good. Most often I have seen apple, cherry or some combination of berries.

I always get requests for me to bring my deep dish apple pie!
My recipe is this: Bake in 375 F 45 min.
Use 4 large tart apples ( wine sap, empire, macs);peel, core and slice them. Mix up 1 cup of sugar & 1 tbsp cinnamon, toss apple slices in this mix.Set aside.
Crust is: 2cups flour,2/3 cup of Crisco (vegetable shortening),&
3 to 5 tbsp of ICE COLD water. Mix flour and Crisco together and add first 3 tbsps ice cold water together, adding 1 tbsp extra after that to form a ball of dough. Sprinkle more flour on countertop and roll dough for a deep dish 9" pie pan.Once it's thin enough to fill pie dish and sides, drape it over your roller and transfer to dish.Trim excess dough and add a fancy trim,or use a fork to press sides flat around the rim. Add apples.
Topping:
1/2 cup flour
1/2 stick of butter ( or margarine)
1/2 cup of brown sugar
a pinch of nutmeg
Mix these ingredients together until it looks crumbly, then add to top of apples.
Bake and enjoy!
