What makes you a real witch? Cause I've been interested in Wicca and Magick since I am 14 years old (23 now), and although I have cast some spells (I feel that only 1 worked) I've never felt like a real witch...

So, can you become a real one? Or does it have to be passed to you by your mom, etc or have to be in a coven?

What makes you a witch is the acknowledgement and proper wielding of your magickal potential. This requires much study. I'm going to send you some links. I hope you look at them.

What makes you a real witch is the beleif in yourself and your craft and by obeying the Law Of Power.
By doing these three things and hard work, patience, and commitment your powers as a witch will increase. Also try looking for books on magick ingeneral and maybe even a few beginner books as they explain a lot about energy raising, what spells are in general, why they work and why they may fail
and offer spells that you can do to increase certain aspects such as power and concentration.
I've been studying and heavily interested in magick since i was 9.
I hope this information has helped you and blessed be.^_^

P.S.
You and anyone else willing to learn can master magick and Wicca. You don't have to be in a coven and can be a solitary witch and you don't have to get it from your mother.

What makes you a witch in my opinion is actually practicing magic. Anyone can be a witch if they learn how to cast spells and work with the energies involved. It is not for everyone. Maybe magic is not for you if your spells have not worked. Or you may not know how to properly cast a spell. There could be a few reasons why your spells did not work, timing, ingredients, spell writing, colors, energy was not focused, etc. If you don't believe in yourself as a witch then you will not one.

Nothing 'makes' you a Witch. You don't get it from your family, and not all spells work. You have to believe in what you are sending out for it to work, and you don't have to join a coven. I am an Eclectic Witch, which means that I take aspects from Wicca, like the rede, but mainly believe in a reverence of nature and equality of all things. I do believe in the Goddess and God and in reincarnation.

It sounds like the fact that not many of your spells working, is getting you down. Over time you will learn that you don't have to do spells all the time to be a Witch, you simply have to have 'faith' that you are and put your heart into your beliefs.

You have to work hard on yourself. You have to connect yourself with the earth and your gods. It's not something you can forceably do, however. It takes time and it takes practice.

And screw that initiation baloney. Covens are delusional in thinking that they can declare you more of a witch than you can make yourself. You and only you hold the power, otherwise you're just a dolt in a circle, wearing a robe, saying things that dont really matter.

Work on you.

It doesn't have to be hereditary and you don't need "training" (You can learn from reading A LOT and practicing A LOT but training helps). You don't need a coven either.
It's got to do with what's in your heart, and your reasons for doing it. Do you just want to be "cool" or get a boyfriend? Or do you have a genuine call to work with nature and the earth and the divine principles? You need to ask yourself those questions.

there are so many ways to get involved, many of us practice as solitary witches, some join covens, others get together and meditate...i follow the path of the goddess, as some do, so i guess i'm not a real witch, but you know, there are many books out there (try powells.com) or try reading

"when god was a woman" by m. stone
or rianne eisler's books

I'm not a witch, but a chaos mage. Coming from that perspective...don't worry about "feeling" that your spells work. Just do 'em and believe in them. That's really all it takes.

You'll know when you are. But your spells aren't going to work all the time. It's just the way it is.

I have been interested in the Pagan beliefs well (don't knock it if you know nothing of our belief system). The only way to become a true which is to truly believe in your heart that you are. Just like mommy said, " you can be anything you want to be if you believe in it." Just focus and believe.
