My brother is an Lawyer and i was able to go with him as a guest to an execution and it changed my perspective. Made me think about it a little bit. Id be all for outlawing aboritions if we got rid of the Death Penalty as well.

Nobody seems to get what im asking here so ill rephrase. Are we as humans supposed to be determining who lives and who dies in our society. I mean if we are founded on a Judeo-Christian Philosophy, doesnt Thou Shall not Kill mean exactly what it says.

Because the basic principle behind making abortion illegal is anti-choice -- the fact that individuals do not have control over what happens to their own bodies, and that the govt can make such decisions regardless of what the individual agrees to.

The death penalty, assisted suicide, abortion -- all of these are debates regarding the government's authority to control life and death, and to take those choices away from the individual.

It makes perfect sense, under that model, that the state has the sole control over life and death, from conception to sentencing.

Although it is somewhat like playing God , the issues are separate. To over simplify it , it's like apples and oranges. Sure they are both fruits , but they are different fruits. As the debate usually tends to be a two sided issue , I try to be neutral , I do not like the idea of abortion , however as an American I have no right to impose my personal beliefs on another. I do not let the issue of abortion dictate the way I choose my elected officials . One thing to think over : If men could get pregnant , abortion would be legal.

[EDIT] IN RESPONSE TO YOUR 3RD ADDITION: I am glad you clarified, as I found your original question a bit absurd.

Now, if your only issue is with the morality of taking a life... well I think it is justified under certain circumstances. Though, who defined taking a life as "playing God"? And since when was killing anything an act of God anyway? People kill people, not God.

Even though I think religion should be left out of these sorts of things, I'll humor myself: YOU live by the ten commandments. I don't. So don't pull me down with you. I know the bible says killing is wrong, but why should I have to obey your views on things? I obey the law, not YOUR religion.

Furthermore, the bible says DON'T KILL. It doesn't say anywhere in the ten commandments: "Thou shalt not allow someone else to kill someone."

It's better you leave the religious stuff to yourself. You can't argue on the side of religion, not in today's world. Don't like it - sorry. Don't try to force your views on other people or try to change the laws when religion is involved. I don't care what this country was founded on. It was also founded on slavery and oppressing women, so if you want to pull the tradition card, be my guest.

You're not getting the point. Outlawing abortion isn't about saving lives. If that were the case, pro-lifers would also support comprehensive sex education in schools, widely available birth control, federally-funded daycare and health insurance, and greater spending on social programs that benefit children, single moms, and foster parents. These things would eliminate the need to seek abortions in the first place.

Outlawing abortion is about controlling women. It is about using a baby as "punishment" for having sex.

I think the main factor is the action of the person involved. A little baby is innocent, having done nothing wrong and not choosing to be conceived in the first place. Someone on death row has created his or her own circumstances due to the actions and choices made in life.

I don't know. But most Abortion Opponents seem to forget one simple fact.
They claim that it is murder, as "the child has no say". But you must remember, the child had no say in its conception. I'm sure if the souls who populate these people knew how the amount of suffering in life VASTLY overcomes any amount of pleasure. (Time has a disturbing tendency to dilate during bad times. Natures greatest cruelty. Good times fly by, Bad times like to stay awhile).

The death penalty would seem preferable to a sentence of life in prison. I would rather commit suicide or be SWIFTLY executed if I was going to jail. It sucks how long they make the prisoners wait. If you, as a death row inmate, wish to expedite your sentence, you should be able to. I would MUCH rather be dead that in an American Men's prison.

If you can't figure out the difference between putting someone to death for murder, and a fetus that has done nothing wrong then you are an idiot
