Calling for a draft right now is political suicide for any congressman that doesn't represent a district that mostly comprises of a military base and it's families. That fact alone will keep the U.S. from instating the draft. We won't see a draft unless the U.S. is directly and unquestionably attacked by a foreign power.
So theoretically, if Iran decided to invade the U.S. we'd see a draft, but until then don't expect for it to gain much support anywhere.

Since the democrats love to waste money it will not come a surprise if they push something through to create a draft bureau. Look at how many years it took to close down the old draft program. Any conflict in the 21st century will not permit us to build up the forces like in earlier conflicts. Personally I think it would be good to have a mandatory two year conscription for everyone between the age of 19 and 30. Military training gives people self confidence and for many it introduces a life style that the can use later in life. Having a continuous pool of trained people could prove useful in border patrolling and homeland security. Instead of young people laying around living off family or entitlement programs giving them some training could help our country.

If Charlie Rangel has his way there will be a draft. He is preparing to introduce, for like the 4th time, a reinstatement of the draft. Funny, tho, I thought Democrats hated the draft. otherwise, no, I don't believe there will be one anytime soon as our AVF is already the best trained military in the world.

The draft is inevitable with the current events going on right now. Unfortuantly it will include men and women alike thanks to the women in the 60s and 70s wanting womens rights... the government will make it "equal" and I feel that the age may even be lowered to 16 and raised to as high as 45, due to the fact we now also have to worry about local security on us soil.
we will be forced to serve one way or another.. its coming..
there were rumors of even due to the bird flu forcing people in the medical feild to work in the hosptials regardless.. as a form of the draft... it passed in congress a few months ago..........
(I plan to suddenly "loose" my working privlages as a healthcare worker if that comes up)

When National Guard units are being called to 2nd tours of Duty, there's definitely a draft coming if things don't change.

Unless there is a true world war, there will never be a draft. It would be political suicide to the politician and party that vote for it.

You've been asked to register all along; that's not for nothing. How are they going to insist you register, yet promise never to use it? Personally if I were a man I'd have sued for discrimination. If men can go, women can go.

If Democrat Charlie Rangel has his way. Typical Democratic bait and switch. Just take whatever the Democrats say, and they'll do the opposite. Our taxes will be raised. Amnesty for illegals, Gay marriage. You guys wanted change... you got it. God Help Us.
