My money is on Kimi Raikkonen. Firstly, Schumacher is out of the equation now. Secondly, I've always thought that Raikkonen was faster than Alonso but never had a reliable car. Next year it will be Alonso in the not-very-reliable McLaren, with Kimi in the near-bullet proof Ferrari. I just hope Schumacher's absence doesn't affect the Ferrari's speed too much come next March. I think Massa will be Raikkonen's main rival in 2007.

I tend to agree with you.

1st - Kimi: One of the 3 fastest drivers in F1 today. Ferrari is the best team with the fastest car right now. Will it be the same comes next season???? If so, it's a no-brainer: He will win

2nd - Massa: One of the 3 fastest. Same car issues as Kimi. His advantage is that he knows the team. It will be a close race all through the season between the 2 Ferrari drivers, but I still think Kimi is a bit faster

3rd - Button: Honda's money and late progress will push him a little bit in the standings

4th - Alonso: First year with McLaren will be the year of adjustments. Good progress for the team and a bunch of points including some victories, but no championship, even if Fernando is the other among the 3 fastest drivers in F1 today

The Renault drivers don't excite me at all! Fisico breaks down under pressure and makes mistakes on the track. Hekki is so new that he will do well, but it will be too early for laurels. Renault is very good, but I think they are planning for Hekki to mature and make him the N.1 driver eventiually.

Hey, of course this is an educated guess. Let's have some fun with some predictions! The truth is that it's impossible to know at this stage...but what fun is it to say that we have to wait for the beginning of the season, bla, bla, bla??? I gave you my forecats based upon the recent past. What is going to happen from now to the first races will shape the championship. Nobody knows who is going to do a better job. Well, perhaps the Super Aguri will win the title and the Ferrari will not score a single point!!!! Hmmm....or not!

I think that whoever's in the ferrari will undoubtedly have the best car. Just depends if someone else is quick enough to use a slower car to beat a ferrari. Just going off on a tangent, I feel very strongly against all the praise that Schumacher has been recieving of late. He's only been one of the fastest men in formula one during his career because he was driving the fastest car. Put anyone else in a Ferrari and I bet they would be just as quick if not quicker. Look at Massa for example. Before he moved to ferrari he was finishing below 15th place in almost every race. But in a ferrari he's almost as quick as Schumacher.

I can't pick out one driver but I'd say it between: Raikkonen, Alonso and Fisco.

Raikkonen because he is probably the fastest driver out there. It depends on how brutal he is with the car, Ferrari's may be 'bullet proof but don't forget it's going to have to be adapted to a different driving style.

Alonso because McLaren is going to be working day and night to make sure this car doesn't break down. Alonso also knows when to push and when to stalk/apply pressure on the car infront.

Fisco because he'll be wanting to prove he is as good/better than Alonso. Also he'll be expected to be number one to Hekki

I'd say the dark horses are Trulli and Kubica. It all depends on the car and thier luck.

Ferrari is out of the equation simply because, with their star driver gone and many of the good staff walking away with him, there will be a power vacuum in the team, and the two drivers will be fighting each other; and when two red drivers fought against each other the last time, everything ended in disaster.
So the red car will lose its "bullet-proof" qualities over the course of the season.

I think it will be a battle between the same teams as in 2005. No idea who wins it, and I don't care if it's either Renault or McLaren (with Alonso).

I agree a Ferrari domination is in order like Schumi and Rubinho used to do back in the good old days of e.g. 2004

but as for the winner to be honest it will come down to little things between Kimi and Massa like the Turkish GP this year where Michael had to wait if that happens next year the guy who is waiting in the pit box may loose the race and ultimately those points for the world title

but as for the best fo the rest

providing they fullfill the hype they will probably produce

Jenson

becuase he has the ability and its about time he had a car thats competitive like in 2004

I wonder how many people will ask this question...there were hundred who had the same problem! And for the 1000th time I'll answer: the big fiht will be between Massa-Raikkonen-Alonso-Fisi. But sometime next year, I know from nowhere will appear a surprise-pilot, to whom nobody thought. I wonder who would be that pilot???

Let's wait until the new cars are launched and the drivers put some test mileage on them.
We have absolutely no idea who will have a really good car and who will have an uncompetitive and unreliable one. McLaren had a decent year in 2005, but who would have guessed the team would go without a win in 2006.
Tires/tyres may be the great equalizer in 2007; with a single tire/tyre supplier, look for harder compounds than we saw this year, then look for a car that best uses its tires/tyres.

The thing about Kimi, is he is he drives the wheels off the car no matter what the situation, and he is incredibly cool about his style of driving.
He almost won the championship a few years back in a very inferior car, so I think with the proper machine, he will not be touched.

I'm putting my $$ on Kimi...

This question is on the lips of millions of F1 fans every year, at this time of the year, and during atleast the first half of every F1 season.
The truth of the matter is, nobody knows the answer for sure. The answers given by those who claim to know are no better than an educated guess. Nobody knew who was going to win this year's title until the last couple of races. Winter testing will give us some idea, but you never know until they have reached the "mathematical" stage of the season.

No as the number 1 is Schumachers number. Next season there will be no number 1 but the year after, the world champion will have the number 1 back again
