My partner suggested I go on holiday whilst the decorators are in, but I feel guilty. He would be happy and would get on better without me. He has great taste and we have discussed it all.

GO, GO, GO if you are anything like me you will just get in the way. I would question everything they do and will it look better there or here and move it this way not that way, no go and relax . I am sure if your partner has good taste you will have nothing to worry about, you lucky fish. Enjoy:))

Stay!!
That way if they start screwing up, you can stop the work immediately. Just ask the contractor to give you a walk through every night to show you what has been done.
You may also want to get a book or two on renovations from the library, so that you have an idea of what work needs to be done. That way you will have an idea as to how long the job will take, and if it looks like it's been done properly.
My friend had her bathrooms re-done while she was in Florida. When she came home, not only were they not even close to being done, but the hadn't been there the whole time she was gone. It took the guys an extra month to finish, and my friend had to pay them for the extra time.
Also, check the guy out with a few of their customers, go look at the job even, to see if you like what's been done.
I've seen too many people get screwed by the contractor, while they were on vacation.

Maybe the element of surprise is what he is going for!
If wishes you well for the holidays and has no concern about not sharing it with you - then enjoy yourself!
But then again - know of no decorators who work during the holiday.
May be as gently as possible telling you that you would be in the way more than help.
Be glad you have one who seems to care!

Bless-that's really thoughtful of him! Let him know the thought makes you feel guilty-but as you say,he's aready said he'd get on better without you there-so he'll probably stress that point. Seems to me he doesn't want both of you to get stressed out-as that's what usually happens during decorating!

If you've discussed it all and you accepted, then you should definitely go ahead, trust his expertise. If you reeeeally feel guilty to the point that you just can't leave, then let him know and promise him that you won't interfere with the decorating.

GO if you trust his taste its a nice gesture on his part and would be rude not to accept. And you may pee him off half way through the redec cause a mass argument the painters piss off and you end up with a half decorated house for years !!!!!!

Well if your boyfriend wishes to let you go on a holiday then don`t upset him by not going,, also what a surprise will await you when you come home to a house with a whole new look.

Go.........you will be a real pain while the work is being done....you will worry that it isn't being done properly, you will see bubbles in the wallpaper and mis matches, you will complain about the mess they are making and will be making endless cups of tea that will keep the workers back. Most of all.......you will enjoy the holiday!!!

Are you kidding me? Go, enjoy yourself and come back to a freshly decorated house. It may not be EXACTLY as you wanted it, but does it really matter.
