a couple drops of dishsoap mixed in a diluted solution of ammonia and hot water.then, use newspapers and for example, wipe the outside of your windows in an up and down motion, and the inside with a side to side motion.when dry, you'll be able to tell where the streak is and waste less time redoing the whole window.

Try using Dawn dish washing liquid (the blue one) mixed in water....yes, just like you're going to wash the dishes! Using a clean cotton washcloth, get it wet with the Dawn water, wring the cloth and then wash the window. Using a separate clean cotton washcloth (lint free preferably) that has nothing but clear water (wring it out also), wipe the window to get any excess soap off. Then dry the window with another lint free cotton wash cloth. (Don't wash windows on a really hot day and especially not when the sun is hitting directly on the window.....the heat causes the cleaning agent to dry too fast which causes streaks).

If the outside of the windows are really dirty, try just getting the "dirt" off first before you go to the "get them sparkling" stage!

Use a solution of 1/2 alcohol (rubbing) and water. Wash window and wipe well with cloth. Then, dry well with coffee filters- sparkling clean!! The filters leave no lint or streaks.
