It oculd be almost anything and the only way you will know for sure is if you go to your doctor.
I have had the IUD, Mirena, since last October and I still spot sometimes, and i never have a set monthly period, I spot randomnly and if I have rough sex then I spot the day after.
I don't think you can get pregnant with this IUD, but there is that 1% chance that it could happen to you. I think you should go to the doctor and ask him to check you out.

IUD's cause lots of spotting, especially in the first few months after they are inserted. It can also cause heavier than normal periods too.
The new IUD, Mirena, supposedly can stop your period all together after a year or so of use, but even with that, many experience spotting and worse than normal periods.

Spotting can be just a side effect from the IUD itself. If you end up late, then you could be pregnant.

fairly unlikely, particularly if you have one of the new progesterone IUDs, such as Mirena.

to know for sure, take a home pregnancy test right away. First Response is one of the most accurate on the market.

I don't know a whole lot about IUD but no birth control is 100%. So if you've had unprotected sex while ovulating it is possible.
Good Luck
