For years I've watched American films and sitcoms with all the talk of getting to first base or getting to third base and I just sort of guessed at what it meant. Would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me as to the specifics!

It makes me laugh about the bases analogy.
1st base- is like hand holding, maybe a little peck on the cheek.
2nd base- is making out completely
3rd base - would be feeling eachother up, and more heavy physicall oral pleasures.
HOME RUN - You can guess what that is, going all the way, intercourse.
SEX!!!
But everyone has their different versions. Most of them go around the basics though

yes I agree with "clareybe" 1st is kissing 2nd felt up 3rd sexual contact other than penis vagina penetration(like oral sex or masturbation), home is intercourse
