I am planing to enter Monaco by road from a Schengen country. Will there be passport control (entrance or exit)? If there is a passport control, where is it? I am a non-Schengen citizen with a passport that allows me a 30-day tourist visa to most countries, do you suspect that I will have problems entering and exiting Monaco? I am a little nervous about things like this and I just like to be prepared, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

There are no border controls but as everyone else, you always need to have your ID (in your case: passport+ visa) with you- just in case you are controlled by the police.
The only country which still has border controls in Western Europe is Switzerland (even if they signed the Schengen agreement now).

Furthermore, I wouldn t recommend you to go to Monaco/Monte Carlo by car but by train. It is very hard to find a car park and the few you can find are extremly expensive.
But depending on the direction you re coming from, you can comfortably reach Monaco by train- there s a direct one from Nice (west) or from Ventimiglia (Italy/east) and as Monte Carlo is quite small, you won t have a problem reaching all the sights walking there.

I drive regularly from Nice, France into Italy, about 50 miles past Monaco. Other than producing my Irish passport at Nice Airport, I never use it again during my stays. You can drive into Monaco (very little parking) and out again without even noticing it. There is no 'border control' between any of the EU states in this area. It is a great system.............
