It can be done in 2000, XP and Vista (steps given below will change a bit for Vista)

Go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options

Go to "Languages" tab.

Select (tick) the "Install files for complex script and right-to-left..." if previously unmarked. Click on "Apply" now.

Windows will start copying the necessary files. You might need to insert the appropriate OS installation disc for this.

After this is over and fine, click on the "Details" button. In that window, click on "Add". Then choose "Hindi" from the Drop down list. "Ok". Now "Ok" the rest. If prompted, restart the system.

"Alt + Shift" will allow you to switch between English and other installed languages. If you do not know how to type in Hindi, then better use, "OnScreen Keyboard" from Start->Programs->Accessories->Accessibility options-> Onscreen keyboard.

Hope this helps.

uuummm I am not sure what you are asking about. Like in sanskrit. He may have a software and a keyboard that have this capability. I usually just type stuff in hindi using abc like "kal ho na ho".
I wish there was more info i can help you with. sorry
