I want to go to med school, but right now I am only going to a community college. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, but I don't know if it is good enough. I plan on transfering to a 4 year university after I am done with commnunity college.

By the way, which classes should I be taking? Chemistry & Biology right?

So you're saying I won't be accepted because I go to a community college?

Yes, you can. 4.0 is the highest GPA one can get. You should probably transfer to a 4 year ASAP, because community colleges are typically looked down upon by the institues of higher education (too easy to get into, easy work load, etc). You should major in Pre-Med.

Transfer to a "good" 4 year university first, than re-examine your grades. I had friends who had 3.7-3.9s when they transferred as Engineers, than one term later they bailed to something else and they still have 2.7-2.9 gpas now.

Talk to your adviser about going Pre-Med, cuz you would have to take all the Chem, Bio, Organic-Chem, Inorganic-Chem, Physical Chem and all that jazz. And I know they do not like community college transfers because you do/did not compete for your "pre-med" class grades like they do 4 year schools.

in many circumstances, med college is particularly extra good to get in to. There are too many regulation colleges. Even the ABA authorized ones (the backside ranked ones) will take just about everyone. regulation college and med college are not easy. confident, there comes a element the place even a ABA regulation college will quit accepting human beings, yet at that element, the pupil is so undesirable that perchance grad college extremely should not be of their plans.

With a 4.0, you should be able to get into a decent four year university. My advice is to do it as soon as possible -- don't wait until you get your AS. It is a meaningless degree.

As for which classes to take -- look at some Medical School web sites and see what they require -- or do a web search on "premed classes"

if you go to your school counseling...you can get more information on it, but i also plan on going to med school, and 4.0 is a very good start....just make sure that you also are able to show that you are balanced, they look not only into your school work, but also into your outside school ...such as extracurricular activities, joining a club or somethin of sort could be of plus, and you do need to take chem, bio, and also physics, as well as a lil bit of math, and engl classes, and dont forget about labs...

while a 4.0 is a good gpa, it isnt very impressive due to the fact that you go to community college.
