Yes, fast is a big part of it.
He is an incredible athlete. Fast, tremendous moves. He's a gamebreaker with his legs, but with a bone head.
He is indeed what he is. He doesn't know how to read a defense. He probably never will. Even mediocre teams are beginning to figure out how to "spy" him, and prey on his tendencies.
He'll never do it, but he would be better served as a "slash" player.
People keep waiting for the breakout. True, you can't teach fast, but he isn't getting any better, just older.

I dont think so. I also dont think the San Diego Chargers thought he would amount to the hype either. Remember they traded him and ended up getting the best player in football on a pace to set, and has already set many records LaDanian Tomlinson(I hope thats spelled right). Also in that deal they got one of the best defensive players, although on a steriod suspension, Shawn Meriman and still a very young player. I think they also got N. Kaeding, a pretty good kicker and maybe someone else or a draft pick. Anyway, Vick is spectacular at times, but is way to inconsistant and too much of a "run first" QB to ever be anymore than a slightly better average QB with flashes of brillance every few games or so. But a fun QB to watch because of that.

Vick doesn't suck as bad as his detractors say, but he isn't as great as his followers say.
Sounds vague, but it's like his career. He isn't winning campionships (or now, even winning ALOT of games), but he isn't driving his team into the ground, the Falcons are @50%, and that's actually bad for them, they usually have a winning season ---of his 5 previous seasons, the 2 less than 50% were when he started 5> games, 1 was 50/50, and the other 2 were winning)
^That is a problem he's go though (he tendency to get broken easily)
Oh, and Chargers got Merriman out of the Eli-Rivers trade.

he can throw the ball really far and run really fast, but other than that, he can't do what a qb needs to do. he is consistent at one thing, screwing up plays that he should be making easily. if opposing teams can contain his running, he is a very sub-par qb

Because most people are stupid. He is not effective throwing. Sure he is fast but now all teams can contain him. Plus he gets extra media attention.
